Babasaheb Ambedkar: An Inspirational life

One summer morning in Satara, young Bhim and his brother were thrown off a bullock cart simply because they were 'untouchables'.

Bhimrao was only nine years old when he realised the full extent of what it meant to be untouchable. Since his first day at school, he'd had to sit separately in class and was not allowed access to water, but these were indignities and inconveniences. It was when Bhimrao and his brother were stranded by themselves at a railway station that he saw how things really stood: that they were children evoked no sympathy, that they could afford to pay bought them no services. Denied water, shelter and dignity, he finally understood that untouchability was a matter of life and death.

Mukunda Rao's telling of the extraordinary story of Dr B.R. Ambedkar's life-from a child facing daily humiliation to a scholar, reformer and the architect of the Indian Constitution-is as powerful as it is accessible. Without glorifying the struggle, it lays bare the grit, intellect and unyielding sense of justice that made Ambedkar one of the most towering figures in Indian history.

Told in simple, stirring language, this inspiring biography isn't just history; it's an honest portrayal of a modern icon whose life laid the foundations for liberty and equality. Essential reading for every young Indian.
